Prof. Dr. Habibollah Haron

Profile: Prof. Habibollah Haron is one of Professor in School of Computing, Faculty of Engineering, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). Currently, he is seconded as President of Qaiwan University (QU), Sulaymaniyah, Kurdistan-Iraq. This secondment is part of commitment from UTM to ensure the success of QU-UTM Franchise as part UTM Trans National Education agenda. He received Bachelor of Computer Science from UTM in 1989, Master of Science in Computer Technology in Manufacture, from University of Sussex, UK in 1995. In year 2004, he received his PhD in Computer Science specialization in Computer Aided Geometric Design (CAGD) area from UTM. For his PhD program, he has stayed 2 years in Cardiff University, UK as part of his research program attachment. He has research experience in robotic, image processing, artificial intelligence, computer vision and Computer Aided Geometric Design. Since the emerging of big data analytics and data science, he is actively involved in this research area. Currently, he is a senior member of IEEE, Information Visualization Society, United Kingdom and Malaysian Society of Sciences and Mathematics. He has received some awards such as Most Active Reviewers of International Arab Journal of Information Technology (IAJIT), ODA Shared Scholarship Scheme for one year of M.Sc. course at the University of Sussex, UK by Association of Commonwealth Universities and 3 months IDB Training Scheme Award under Development and Industrial Technology Program (Asian) Development Bank (PPTP/ADB) at University of Hull, UK. In organizing an international conference, he is also the organizing chair of the 5th 2013 ACIIDS Conference and the 13th 2014 SOMET Conference. From 2004 until 2014 he served as Head of Modeling and Industrial Computing Department, Deputy Dean (Academic) in Faculty of Computing, Head of Soft Computing Research Group. Besides UTM, he has been working as Associate Professor at Imam Muhammad ibn Saud Islamic University for 2 years. He is actively appointed as keynote speaker for many international conferences, reviewers of international journals, reviewers international and local research grants, examiners for PhD and MPhil thesis for Malaysian and international universities. He has been a Principal Investigator of many research project including RISE European Research Council project, national and UTM research grant. His philosophy in academic career is the balance in management of higher institution and excel in research activity.

Associate Prof. Mas Rina binti Mustaffa

Title: Intelligent content-based multimedia representation for recognition and retrieval: Practices and challenges

Profile: Ts. Dr. Mas Rina Mustaffa is an Associate Professor and Head of Multimedia Department, at the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology, Universiti Putra Malaysia. She received her PhD in Multimedia Systems from the Universiti Putra Malaysia in 2012. She is the editorial board of several journals including the International Journal of Advanced Computer Research (IJACR) and the Journal of Information System and Technology Management (JISTM). She served as a Guest Editor for the MJCS Special Issue 2/2021: “Information Retrieval and Knowledge Management, 2022. She also has been actively involved in many international conferences as organising and technical program committee. She has authored and co-authored more than 60 publications in journals, book chapters, and proceedings and presented at many conferences as keynote / invited speakers and paper presenters. She also has been granted few copyrights, won several medals at research exhibitions, and received few awards related to research. She is also the project leader and co-researcher of several local grants. Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Mas Rina is a Senior Member of IEEE, Technologist of MBOT, Vice President of PECAMP Malaysia, and member of ACM and IACSIT.
